What is the difference between long grain and end-grain?
-
On Long Grain, it's like the brush is lying left to right, and you're chopping those fibers in half. On end-grain, you're actually cutting between the wood fibers, keeping the board sharper longer and making it easier to clean and thus more sanitary.

Are end-grain cutting boards worth it?
-
An end-grain cutting board has the benefits of being both attractive and easy on your knives. An end-grain board also has a very fibrous cutting surface, so a knife's edge is likely to sink into the wood fibers while you are cutting. This type of board also doesn't show scratches as easily

How can I safely clean my cutting board?
-
DO NOT put your cutting board into the dishwasher. The heat and water will warp and cause the wood to splinter. Wood cutting boards need to be hand washed. After use, wash them with a bit of dish soap, rinse the board in hot water, wipe clean, and allow to dry upright.

How often should I condition my cutting boards?
-
Keeping your cutting board conditioned will allow it to last a lot longer. Typically you should recondition every 2 weeks to once a month. If your board feels dry or grainy it could use more conditioning.
